![]() ![]() Technology used in the lesson: Smartboard, Ipads, ShowMe App, AppleTV Mathematical Topic: Representing Numbers to 1 000 Lesson Materials: AppleTV, Dice, Dry Erase Markers, Handouts, Ipads (class set), Pencil, Smartboard, Whiteboards (class set) In addition, since I was unable to use Wiki for Lesson One, I was successful in learning how to create a Wiki for this assignment.Įxamples: Oral Presentation, Harmony Essentials Animation, ABCYa! Animate Animation I have also learned ways in which Skype can be used effectively in the classroom to enhance lessons. Skills and software I have learned: In planning this lesson, I have learned how to use ABCYa! Animations and Harmony Essentials Software in order to create digital animations. Who knows, it could even inspire some students to become digital animators themselves. This software will not only reinforce concepts in motion geometry, but engage and encourage students to think creatively within the mathematics classroom. Instead of moving triangles across a co-ordinate plane, they will apply the same concepts to make a fish swim or watch it jump. ![]() Secondly, by using animation software, students will get a chance to manipulate objects and move them through space and time. Yet these technologies provide students with fantastic opportunities to learn from and interact with others across the globe. Interviews such as this would not be possible without the use of communication technologies such as Skype and Face Time as travel expenses can be costly. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and develop a deeper appreciation for the subject matter. Through the use of Skype, students will have the opportunity to hear about the importance of mathematics in digital animation from someone who works directly in the field. How use of technology may help: By illustrating to students the connection between motion geometry and digital animation, students will begin to understand the role geometry plays in their lives – thus making a seemingly abstract concept, relevant and applicable. This can lead students to disengage themselves from mathematics and develop negative attitudes towards the subject. Main purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to foster “real world” application of seemingly abstract mathematical concepts.Īnticipated learning difficulty/obstacle: Students often fail to see how the mathematics they study in the classroom relates to the “real world”. ![]() Type of lesson: This lesson will reinforce the application of motion geometry concepts previously studied. Technology used in the lesson: Harmony Essentials Software or ABCYa! Animate, Skype and Youtube Lesson Materials: Computers, Harmony Essentials Software, SmartBoard, Skype and an Internet connection ![]()
